Event News Trading – Improve your Results NOW

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Event trading involves trading focused on major events that can move a market, a market segment, or a particular stock and tend to focus on daily trading profits. For example, inflation data, Fed reports, weekly oil inventory data, interest rate hikes or cuts, earnings reports, Presidential or Congressional elections, or world events. The events are likely to move the market and provide abnormal returns.

Volatility is key in event trading because the event may cause market or stock movements greater than anticipated by financial models. Volatility is a key component of option trading and the market frequently ignores specific events. The increase in the option value for a put or a call that a major event should warrant is not always accounted for in the price.

Speed is the name of the game in Event Trading. Due to the nature of Event Trading and the quick turn around from announcement to execution latency is a key variable that will predict trading profit success. With critical, market-moving data being released directly from the U.S. Departments of Labor, Commerce and Treasury, those companies receiving the data first and having the infrastructure in place to react quickly, will see increased execution success.

As a component of the CFN premier delivery platform for market data and trading applications in top liquidity venues around the world, CFN is offering the lowest latency connectivity to trading firms and market data providers who are obtaining their updates directly from U.S. Departments of Labor, Commerce and Treasury.

Get Service Levels Agreements for: Price, Latency and Resilience, from the only provider to offer all of the above: CFN Services. CFN is committed to being the Leading Provider of delivery of Economic & Government News Data.
